A new, nurse-led, personal wellness and recovery business, established to empower and equip people to make the most of their health, is to launch here at Mamhilad Park Estate on 19th October.
Greymed focuses on informed preventative and proactive individual health management, so that people can continue getting the best out of life as they get older. It will open on the 19th October, in the ground-floor Walnut Suite at Mamhilad House to offer individual health consultations and testing followed by personalised health plans.
Greymed’s founders, local husband-and-wife team, Helena and Mike Waldron are creating consultation rooms and a recovery and wellbeing lounge, featuring reclining massage chairs, full-body red-light therapy, a stretching and mobility area, and a hydration station, across 540 square feet.
Their health MOTs include blood testing and advanced, comprehensive body composition analysis via state-of-the-art technology. Using the findings and in consultation with each client, their nurse-led team will develop personalised health plans that may comprise nutrition, exercise, recommended therapies and lifestyle adjustments.
Helena, who is currently studying to be a nurse while working as a healthcare assistant at The Grange University Hospital, explained that she and her husband are passionate about health and wellbeing.
“We always knew that we wanted to start a business that is all about helping people live their best life,” she said.
“So many people are living half-lives because of low energy levels, fatigue and brain fog. While the NHS may have ruled out disease, they are still not feeling well.
“Greymed is all about addressing that grey area and focusing on optimising your health and recovery and preventing issues.
“We listen to people’s symptoms, concerns and goals, look in detail at what is going on in the body and then design a bespoke pathway to measurable improvements.”
The couple lived in New Zealand for ten years before returning to the UK in 2019. Following a significant family loss, they decided around a year ago to launch Greymed.
“Life is short, your health is more of a focus as you get older, and we felt that the time was right,” explains Mike, who also leads the Torfaen & Gwent Mental Health and Wellbeing Network.
“We were keen to co-locate with other health and wellbeing businesses and professionals who can also support our clients who may need a variety of therapies. With a Wellbeing Hub and its breadth of therapeutic specialists here on site, alongside this accessible, ground-floor space, which is ideal for our specific requirements, lots of free parking and the parkland setting, Mamhilad Park Estate is perfect for us.”
“Greymed is a fantastic new addition to our wellbeing business community here at Mamhilad, and we’re delighted that a brand new business has chosen to launch here,” said Mike Whitson of Johnsey Estates UK, who own and manage the estate.
“We will continue to do everything we can to support Helena and Mike as they establish and grow the business.”
Greymed is having a launch week on 19th-23rd October where there will be a series of free events to showcase their services and facilities. As well as working with private individuals, they are also developing flexible corporate wellbeing options and events to support employee health, wellbeing and fitness to work for businesses across Torfaen, Newport, Monmouthshire and the wider Gwent region.
