Caleb McDuff defies all the odds with the support of our occupier FASCAR

One of our longstanding occupiers, vehicle servicing, diagnostics and repairs specialist, FASCAR, is celebrating the latest achievement of Caleb McDuff – the UK’s only deaf racing driver competing in high-level motorsport.

Caleb, who is sponsored by FASCAR, claimed a hard-fought podium finish in the BRITCAR Endurance Championship earlier this month. At just 17 years old, Caleb is competing at the highest levels of British GT racing and was last year named Young Sports Personality of the Year in the national Deaf Sports Personality of the Year awards.

Born profoundly deaf, Caleb races using a specially modified helmet that integrates his cochlear implants, allowing him to hear vital radio communications from his engineer while driving at speeds over 180mph.

FASCAR has played a valuable role in supporting the ongoing development of this in-helmet communication technology, helping to ensure Caleb can compete on a level playing field.

“FASCAR is incredibly proud to support Caleb – not just as a talented racing driver, but as a trailblazer for deaf athletes everywhere,” said Michael Farr, Technologies Manager at FASCAR. “His determination, resilience, and courage inspire us and align perfectly with our company values.”

Caleb’s journey has been far from easy. Motorsport has long been seen as inaccessible to the deaf community due to the critical reliance on sound. But with the help of cochlear implant technology and sheer determination, Caleb is proving that deafness is no barrier to success.

His second-place finish at Snetterton was the latest milestone in a ground-breaking career that has already seen him:

“To have such talent literally on our doorstep is exciting!” said James Crawford, chief executive of Johnsey Estates UK Limited, Mamhilad Park Estate’s owner-managers who are also based here on-site.

“When you consider the challenges Caleb is overcoming with the support of FASCAR, it’s inspiring, and shows other deaf youngsters that high performance sport is within reach.”

Next for Caleb is Thruxton Circuit – the UK’s fastest track – on Saturday 6th July 2025. We wish him all the luck!
