Coffi Kitoko in the Park opened today (Monday 15 September) following an extensive refurbishment, transforming the café at Monmouth House into a sleek, contemporary espresso bar to serve occupiers and local communities.
Serving excellent coffee, teas, tasty breakfasts and brunches, cakes and more using the best local suppliers, we’re delighted that owners Denis and Michael chose Mamhilad Park Estate for their second base.
The opening follows the success of their multi-award-winning Coffi Kitoko in the Cwmbran Centre which they opened just over a year ago, upscaling from the coffee cart business they had run in the town centre since 2022.
Former primary school teacher Denis and hairdresser Mike are all about community and have started as they mean to go on, working with other occupiers, including OTL Construction who completed the building transformation and XL Graphics, who created the signage.
Having won awards for their inclusive welcome and community support, Denis explained that the move felt right for them.
“We’re about community first and foremost and could immediately see the huge potential for a café to be a real hub for the people who work here, the visitors who use the gym, nursery and wellbeing hub, and local residents, too,” he said.
“It’s been great to deal direct with the estate’s owner-managers, who have been really supportive with the refurbishment, and connected us with other occupiers to find everything we needed on site. The solicitors who acted for us, Stephens Wilmot, already customers of ours in Cwmbran, are based here, and we’ve worked with some of our closest neighbours to transform the café. We look forward to welcoming our friends and neighbours to a contemporary, welcoming space perfect for co-working and meeting or taking time out of a busy day, with excellent wifi, and quieter booths as well as a bookable meeting room – ideal for a private Teams or Zoom meeting when you need one.”
Coffi Kitoko uses local, Welsh produce wherever possible, including sausages from nearby Ty Poeth Farm and organic milk from Daisy Bank Farm in Montgomery. High grade speciality caffeinated and decaf coffee is supplied by award-winning B-Corp roastery, Coaltown Coffee in Ammanford and Abergavenny’s Angel Bakery will be providing their famous sourdough and focaccia breads. As well as coffee, they serve affogato milkshakes, peach iced teas and speciality teas to drink in or take out, all in biodegradable and compostable cups and lids.
“The café bar is a vital part of life at Mamhilad Park Estate and we’re delighted Denis and Michael have chosen to open their second base here,” said Mike Whitson of the MPE on-site management team.
“Their Cwmbran espresso bar is so loved by its loyal customers, we know they will bring a special, extra dimension to our Mamhilad Park Estate community here as well as new visitors to Coffi Kitoko in the Park.”
Coffi Kitoko in the Park is open for coffees and food Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 4pm, and 9am to 3pm on Saturdays.
