Our Christmas shoe box appeal is back! Once again, we’re working with Age Cymru, Age Connects Wales and Care & Repair Cymru to make Christmas a little brighter for older people living in Torfaen and Monmouthshire.
You just need to fill a wrapped shoe box with gifts. Gloves, scarves, hats, smellies, games and puzzles are all on the list of items that older people and those living in care homes will appreciate this Christmas.
James Crawford, Chief Executive of Johnsey Estates said: “Christmas can be a lonely time for many older people who have no close family to visit over the festive period. We were blown away with the response to last year’s appeal with over 200 boxes by colleagues and occupiers based at Mamhilad.
“Age Cymru, Age Connects Wales and Care & Repair Monmouthshire and Torfaen are working together again this year to make a difference by distributing gift boxes so we will be collecting our own gift boxes and opening up Mamhilad Park Estate as the drop-off point for Torfaen and Monmouthshire.
“It’s easy to get involved. Simply find a shoe box, wrap the box and lid separately in Christmas paper, or use a festive pre-printed box to fill with gifts then attach a label marking whether your gift is for a male, female or generic. Please don’t include any second-hand items or any personal information and don’t seal your gift box but place a rubber band around the closed box.”
