Make Christmas a little brighter for the elderly in Torfaen and Monmouthshire this year

Age Cymru, Age Connects Wales, Care & Repair Cymru and Johnsey Estates are appealing to you to fill a wrapped shoe box with gifts to help make this Christmas a little brighter for the elderly living in Torfaen and Monmouthshire this year.

Gloves, scarves, hats, smellies, games and puzzles are all on the list of items that older people and those living in care homes will appreciate this Christmas.

Andrew Wilkinson, Chair of Johnsey Estates said: “Christmas can be a lonely time for many older people who have no close family to visit over the festive period. Age Cymru, Age Connects Wales and Care & Repair Cymru are working together to make a difference by distributing gift boxes so the least we can do is support the campaign by collecting our own gift boxes and opening up Mamhilad Park Estate as the drop-off point for Torfaen and Monmouthshire.

“It’s easy to get involved. Simply find a shoe box, wrap the box and lid separately in Christmas paper, or use a festive pre-printed box to fill with gifts then attach a label marking whether your gift is for a male, female or generic. Please don’t include any second hand items or any personal information and don’t seal your gift box but place a rubber band around the closed box.”
