Lyndsay Crompton – The Community Chiropractor – is a woman with purpose.
“My mission is to make people feel better,” she says, simply.
In her words, “born in Wigan, made in Wales”, Lyndsay has worked for the NHS in various roles for more than 20 years but is now also a registered Chiropractor at Mamhilad Park Estate.
Lyndsay, who has lived in Wales since 2002, began her own wellness career path in an NHS public health role 20 years ago, based at Mamhilad House on the estate. At the same time, she trained in sports massage therapy and realised that making people feel better was what she wanted to focus on.
In 2016, following a chance meeting with a friend in her local supermarket, Lyndsay heard about the full-time, five-year integrated master’s degree in chiropractic at the University of South Wales, and enrolled.
“I knew I wanted a better life for me and my little girl, and I saw this as an investment in our future as well as a way to do what I love and believe in,” she said.
“Chiropractic is amazing – the effect it has on so many people with so many different conditions. Patients come here, often at their wit’s end, in pain and desperate, and leave smiling and feeling free as a bird – there’s no better feeling than making that happen!”
Last September, Lyndsay opened her own clinic at Mamhilad Park Estate’s Wellbeing Hub, a burgeoning community of wellness businesses, coincidentally based in the same building where she first began working for the NHS. She is also about to begin tutoring for the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic on the very course she successfully completed with First Class honours.
“I was really delighted to get my own place and it just felt right, to come full circle here,” she said.
“This community of wellness business owners and practitioners is incredibly supportive and collaborative – ideal when you’re starting out on your own for the first time.”
Now, Lyndsay is about to realise her dream of opening a multi-disciplinary clinic, in a larger premises at Mamhilad, that will offer chiropractic, physiotherapy, sports massage and rehabilitation.
“Having only arrived last September, it’s great to be growing already while staying within this incredible community with so many wellness services offered all in one place. And it feels amazing to have my dream within touching distance!”
Over the past year, the number of health and wellbeing businesses at Mamhilad Park Estate has continued to grow, with more than 20 now based at the park.
There is a dedicated Wellbeing Hub in Mamhilad House as well as several physical and mental health businesses based throughout the wider, 140-acre estate. These include various psychotherapy and counselling services; a chiropractic clinic; skin aesthetics and beauty clinics; specialist women’s wellbeing, remedial and healing services; physiotherapy services; Pilates and fitness studios; a cross-fit gym and a floatation therapy business.
